Oh, Doctor?
A homeopathic nurse argues that vaccine reform is not the answer
by Sheri Nakken, RN, MA, Homeopath
The following is a response to a series article by Dr. Donald Miller,
the conclusion of which appears in this issue..
I have just read your article, and I want to thank you, Dr Miller,
very much for all that you have written, and for speaking out on a
subject that is so vital and a practice that is destroying so many
lives in the US and around the world.
I am an RN with experience in all areas of nursing including
pediatrics. I started to see the dangers in vaccinations as long ago
as 1982 and started to research the issue then. When the internet
became available, I began to read extensively all that is
there--articles, research papers, journals--as well as books and other
documents.
I am deeply involved in this issue. I teach parents in online classes
and elsewhere of the dangers of vaccines, covering all of the issues
and their dangers: preservatives, adjuvants, antibiotics, and other
additives; contamination with DNA, mycoplasma and other things; the
antigen itself and the immune system (which so little is known about);
VAERS; adverse reactions (short and long term) and so much more.
I also moderate many email lists on this subject, and am a homeopath
dealing with these issues in my work. I read for many hours a day
everything that I can find--monitoring all the news and research from
around the globe and sharing that, as well as trying to assist in
making legislative change. I am deeply involved in trying to make
change in this area.
I am one of the people written to or phoned by many parents of
vaccine-injured children, as I am very visible in this area--they write
immediately or later. I work to help them be educated as to their
choices in this matter, the dangers, and other options for their
child's health care.
I think you summarized the issues very well. You have covered so much
that needs to be covered on this issue in a very readable way. You fit
so much in and again I thank you so much.
First I want to thank you for a variety of things that you mentioned,
and for going as far as you did, including your pointing out the
following:
- the lack of studies with an unvaccinated control group
- the lack of long term studies
- the issue of infant and early child immune system and brain
development
- the danger of mercury in the vaccines
- doctors not questioning what they have been taught
- the TRUE drop in the disease rate BEFORE the vaccines; and the
drop in mortality rate before the vaccines
- pointing out the CDC conflicts of interest
- the exemptions in each state, which most people don't even know
about
- the doctors' legal risks for telling patients not to vaccinate,
which is potentially greater than if they tell patients to vaccinate
and they are damaged (because of laws which forbid lawsuits over
vaccine injury)
- the necessity of parental choice
- the probable constructive role of some of these diseases in the
maturation of the immune system
- the difference between Th1 and Th2 and the consequences of
vaccination
- the importance of breastfeeding and omega-3s.
Now I would like to express my concerns and further areas that you
might look at.
1. Please look closer at your contention that vaccines may at all be
related to a lower death rate from diseases. The other leading causes
of death in children less than five years of age could very well be
from vaccine injury: SIDS, cancer, develpmental disorders, genetic
abnormalities, and even accidents in some cases. We have traded acute
illness for chronic illness, which I think you know. And the deaths
from diseases could be prevented in many other ways: Vitamin A,
Vitamin C, homeopathic treatment, and more. This is true for all of
the diseases vaccinated for. It isn't a choice of vaccine or death
from the disease in some. There is a third choice--intervention during
the disease with above modalities to prevent the death. And of course
some will die as they always have.
2. Further in the article you state an exception would be hepatitis B
vaccine for infants whose mothers test positive for this disease. I
think there is a huge amount to learn about Hepatitis B and other
conditions, and there is not a lot of evidence, in my opinion, that
the vaccine has been proven to work or help even in this case. To
routinely force (and yes, they are forced or child protective services
are brought in) is wrong. The vaccine can be highly damaging in
infants.
3. Postponing vaccines until after the age of two years is certainly a
huge step in the right direction. But I have seen injury from vaccines
after this age, serious injury from tetanus vaccine (people with
chronic tetanus-like symptoms) to hepatitis b vaccine injury in teens
and adults. There are also reports of MMR injury in children, teens
and adults, but it's good that you have warned against such live
vaccines in your article.
4. Your point about using human cells to produce vaccines concerns me.
Certainly there is a huge danger in monkey kidney cells, as we know.
But we don't know the effect of human cells very well, either.
5. You state "since the measles vaccine came into widespread use this
disease has virtually disappeared." Yes, that is true but do we know
that it wouldn't have disappearedd anyway as it was on the downward
slope already, before mass vaccination?
6. I have a correction on the state exemptions you mention. All states
have medical exemptions (which are pretty meaningless as few can get
them). Only 48 states have religious exemptions, not all 50, and some
of those are pretty stringent and really go against freedom to choose
what a person wants for their life and their children's lives.
7. You mention that if parents delay or avoid vaccination, they must
accept the risk that their child might contract the disease that the
vaccine against it most likely would have prevented. But there really
is no proof that the vaccines prevent any diseases. Numbers have gone
down but that is not proof. Some children have increased antibody
titers after a vaccine, but titers are meaningless. They do not
indicate true immunity.
8. I encourage you to look deeper into the vaccines you do
recommend:
Diphtheria is hardly a risk at all in the US and other developed
countries and again alternative treatment modalities need to be
acknowledged and honored such as homeopathy (which had great success
treating people in times past with diphtheria).
Pertussis certainly puts infants more at risk, but I know many
unvaccinated infants who have come thru it just fine. And there is a
homeopathic nosode (You probably aren't a fan of homeopathy or even
know much about it, but it has a reputation for assisting greatly in
pertussis in infants and children and adults). Also there is Vitamin
C. The recovery time for a child with pertussis is greatly decreased
with homeopathic treatment.
Tetanus is a different can of worms. Please read my
webpage
on tetanus vaccine. There is so much
propaganda about tetanus. Did you know there is NO diagnostic test for
tetanus? So how do we know a person actually has tetanus? Symptoms of
tetanus are similar to symptoms of some other toxic poisonings. Good
wound care is far and away your best treatment for dirty injuries. The
risk for tetanus is not the same in every area of the country. And
tetanus vaccine is one vaccine that I get many, many emails on from
people telling me of damage to themselves or their children that
doesn't go away, with tetanus-like symptoms. The vaccine is so
extremely toxic it's been diluted and diluted and is still causing
problems in some. And does it even work? Questionable.
Polio is yet another can of worms, a major sacred cow. This is the
vaccine upon which they built much of the propaganda for all the other
vaccines (with some help from smallpox). See my
webpages and links to
polio. Much of what was coming out
about the cause for the "epidemics" of polio was quashed or never
investigated. Why didn't we ever try to find out the true cause of
polio instead of going for the romantic, lucrative vaccine. And did
the vaccine cause the decline? Not sure, because it was already on the
decline somewhat before the vaccine.
I noticed that you are clearly concerned about smallpox and
bioterrorism, and that you have expertise in this area. But I am not
convinced that these would ever be a threat. I think the hype is part
of keeping people in fear, and a good way to sell vaccines as well.
Also, the history of smallpox following in the wake of the vaccine in
Britain and other parts of the world is extensive. More smallpox
occurs among those vaccinated.
So, once again, thank you very much, and I encourage you to look
further. You have already gone further than almost every medical
doctor out there. I applaud you. If you would like any further
information or help, please let me know. I will be sharing the link to
your article with thousands around the world through the lists I am
on. Hopefully you will be hearing from many.
