Open Letter on Iraq

from the Nonviolent Action Community of Cascadia

As the US rushes headlong into another Persian Gulf massacre which will at best plunge the Gulf region further into chaos, completely isolate the US from its traditional allies, kill tens of thousands of Iraqi citizens and American soldiers, and destroy the American economy (with disastrous implications for working people); we can't help thinking, "If the world's going to hell, we may as well go down swinging." But in the absence of any large-scale resistance to plug into, it looks as though we'll need to create our own -- even acknowledging our relatively limited resources.

We've tossed around some ideas (banner hangings, regular leafletting/tabling/vigiling, display ads, a regional War Tax Resistance conference), and made some tentative plans. But we're definitely in want of more energy and ideas. What would you like NACC to be doing? What would you like to be doing, and how can NACC help you to be doing it? How much time/energy/money are you able to volunteer? Let us know! Contact (206) 547-0952. All comers welcomed! cmtc@igc.org
