TWO NEW BOOKS FROM SEVEN STORIES PRESS
Seven Stories Press has just published 9-11 by Noam Chomsky,
and 10 Reasons to Abolish the IMF and World Bank, by Kevin
Danaher.
In 9-11 Chomsky examines the causes of the September 11th
catastrophe, the historical precedents for it and the possible
outcomes. Chomsky says the atrocities of 9-11 “are something quite new
in world affairs…. For the first time, the guns have been directed the
other way.” He says there has been “a devastating blow” to
Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, and argues for an international rule
of law. Existing bodies such as the United Nations and World Court
must be given credence and then relied upon. “React with extreme
violence,” he writes, “and expect to escalate the cycle of violence,
leading to still further atrocities such as the one that is inciting
the call for revenge.” Original Trade Paperback, $8.95, 128 pages,
ISBN:1-58322-489-0; eBook available in Microsoft Reader or Adobe
eBook; coming soon for PalmOS $4.20. Download from: www.sevenstories.com,
1-800-596-7437 (fax: 212-226-1411).
10 Reasons to Abolish the IMF & World Bank is a veritable
Globalization for Dummies. It lays bare the most common myths of
globalization and looks with hope to grassroots movement-building on a
global scale. Danaher argues for abolishing the IMF and World Bank and
replacing them with democratic institutions that would make the global
economy more accountable to an informed and active citizenry, $6.95 /
104 pages ISBN:1-58322-489-0.
