Alternative Media for Understanding the Disaster

With confusion, pain and anxiety ringing over North America, it willbe useful to provide some framework for understanding what hashappened. Here are links to websites so people can move past themainstream media analysis that has inadequately (and not accidentally)treated this incident in the following ways:

1) blamed Arab groups for the bombing; thus scapegoating an entiregroup of people without any analysis of where such anti-Americansentiment stems from or how many others might share the same sentimentin the world;

2) set the stage for an unprecedented clamp-down of civil liberties in exchange for more security—a promise that has proved hollow;

3) rolled out the carpet for an all-out war against an enemy that isstill unidentified. Our hearts are aching for the people who have diedin the World Trade Center attacks, and for their families. ThatAmericans have never had to endure such a terrorist attack on our soilbefore should open our eyes and hearts to people who live with suchthreats every day.

Please consult these sites for reliable information that broadens theanalysis of this horrible event and helps us make sense of itintellectually and responsibly.
